Sandbags for Homeowners & Property Managers in Ottawa

How homeowners teams in Ottawa use sandbags

Most flood damage to homes starts with shallow water finding a low doorway, a garage threshold or a basement window well. A modest stock of filled sandbags placed early can redirect that water while you move valuables upstairs. Homeowners, condo boards and property managers order filled bags for speed, or empty bags to fill at a municipal sand pile, and keep them dry in a garage or shed for next season.

Ottawa had a population of 1,017,449 in the 2021 Census. Across Ontario, sandbag demand peaks with spring snowmelt and ice break-up on rivers and creeks, and again after summer thunderstorms that overload storm sewers in built-up neighbourhoods.
